Floor Protection

PP floor protection sheets work on marble, granite, porcelain, ceramic tile, hardwood, engineered wood, laminate, terrazzo, luxury vinyl tile (LVT), and polished concrete. They are non-staining and non-adhesive — they sit flat under their own weight on most smooth surfaces without leaving any residue when removed. On sloped or uneven surfaces, tape the sheet edges to prevent movement.

Yes. A quality PP floor protection sheet can be cleaned, rolled up, and reused on the next floor or next project. Unlike cardboard — which absorbs moisture, tears, and goes to the skip after one use — polypropylene holds its shape and remains effective through multiple use cycles. On a 20-floor tower, the same rolls can cover each floor as the finishing team progresses from top to bottom.

Blue PP sheets are the standard weight for typical fit-out floor traffic. Yellow sheets are a heavier gauge for high-traffic zones where loaded trolleys, scissor lifts, or scaffolding cross the finished floor. Yellow also provides a high-visibility warning in busy areas. For most UAE residential and commercial fit-out projects, blue is the correct choice; upgrade to yellow for hotel lobbies and areas with heavy equipment movement.

Our standard floor protection roll is 2m wide, covering most room bays in one pass with minimal overlap. We also supply 0.9m rolls for corridors, stairwells, and narrow spaces. For large open-plan areas, the 2m roll can be rolled out quickly across the floor and lapped at joins for complete coverage. Contact our Sharjah team if you need different widths.

Measure your total floor area to be protected in square metres. Divide by 2 to get the linear metres of 2m-wide roll required. Add 15–20% for overlaps, waste, and re-covering after subcontractor damage. For example, 500m² of floor area needs approximately 250 linear metres of 2m roll plus 15% = 288 linear metres. Yes. PP corrugated sheets are fully waterproof — they block paint spills, silicone drips, grout slurry, cleaning chemicals, and water from reaching the floor surface underneath. This is one of the key advantages over breathable cardboard protection, which allows liquid spills to soak through and stain finished flooring. For particularly high-risk areas near wet trades, double-layering the sheets provides additional protection.
